Michael B. Stein is a versatile composer and pianist experienced in many musical genres. He holds a M.A. in Classical Composition from the Manhattan School of Music and a B.F.A. in Jazz Piano Performance from the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music.
From 2009-2013, Stein was a producer for Purdie Good Company, LLC where he also contributed as a songwriter, arranger, performer, and conductor. He was later commissioned by the New School University to compose an original score to D.W. Griffith’s classic silent film,”The Birth of a Nation”. Subsequently, he has scored numerous films including “Gladys Brown”, “Sunset Cosmetics”, “The Body”, and “Tit for Tat”. In 2015, Michael also served as musical director for Sally Struthers at the Algonquin Arts Theatre. His recent concert orchestra pieces, “Darkness Over the City” and “Nostalgiana” premiered in New York City with great accolades in April 2016. Stein has been happily serving as Acting Music Coordinator at TUS since September, 2016.
