In response to the recent transition in the Religious Education program, the Board of The Unitarian Society has hired Olivia Forte-Gardner, as our Acting Director of Religious Education. Olivia will stay in this role through the end of the “church year” – until the middle of June.
Olivia is the most recent member of the congregation to “sign the book” and attends regularly with her children, Uma and Julian. Olivia grew up Unitarian Universalist and benefited greatly from her participation in a variety of UU RE programs. She sees the world through a teacher’s eyes and will bring her knowledge of science and love for the natural world to this work. Her focus will be on ensuring that our Sunday morning Spirit Labs are engaging, well-planned, and that RE volunteers are well-supported, as well as reaching out and connecting families in the RE program with the congregation and with each other.
To support the RE program through this transition, we are contracting with professional Religious Educator. Jess Bors, who is the DRE at Buxmont Unitarian Universalist Congregation will be working with Olivia, the RE Committee, and Rev. Karen to ensure that our RE program is responsive, as well as innovative. She will mostly be working “behind the scenes;” but once a month, she will be here at TUS and you will have a chance to meet her. Her first Sunday with us will be Jan.13.
