What is it that binds us together as a liberal religious community when we “reserve to each individual the right to their own beliefs as to the nature of God and the Universe”? In UU gatherings there is often a mutual understanding that “we need not believe alike to love alike” but without shared belief, how to we understand what holds our communities together as a religion? How do we build relationships in a specifically Unitarian Universalist context? As we strive to create beloved community, and when we inevitably fall short of perfection, how do we recommit ourselves to our shared aspirations? With full acknowledgement that answers to these important questions may not be simple or forthcoming, this service aims to share a young adult perspective on UU spirituality, community, and covenant.
