Services to honor loved ones who have died are often very personal occasions. Our minister can help you and your family honor the memory of a special person in your life by helping to create a memorial service that will reflect your memories, traditions, and spiritual beliefs.

Memorial services that take place at TUS should be planned for an appropriate date and time in collaboration with the minister. TUS members pay no fee for use of the building or the services of the minister; a donation can be made to the Minister’s Discretionary Fund. For those who are not members, fees do apply. For all, there are fees for the services of the music director and for sexton services.

The minister is sometimes available to conduct services at outside venues, such as local funeral homes or at a home funeral. If you are interested in the minister conducting a memorial service or celebration of life for your loved one, please contact our Office Administrator at uutus@comcast.net.

The service might include the following elements:

  • A eulogy
  • Poems and other readings
  • Prayer or meditation
  • A time to remember the deceased with stories and memories
  • Hymn singing or other music
  • A time for personal reflection
  • Ritual to say final good-bye

For members and long-time friends of TUS, there is the memorial garden. Several beloved members of our community have chosen to have their ashes spread there.
